In this week’s episode, Ms. Tara Lombardo, a travel nurse specialist, explains why cholera protection is critical for those at risk of exposure, given that the disease can be life threatening. She outlines the simple but essential steps that can provide protection and highlights how she identifies individuals at higher risk. She also discusses the approaches for proactive patient discussions to emphasize the importance of cholera vaccination.

Faculty Details
Tara Lombardo, RPN, CTH
Tara Lombardo graduated from nursing in 2005 and has over 15 years of experience specializing in travel health and immunizations. Since 2014, she has established and managed the Dawson Travel Clinic in Guelph, Canada, where she provides comprehensive travel health consultations and delivers immunization education to both patients and healthcare professionals. Tara earned her Certificate in Travel Medicine (CTH) from the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) in 2019. She currently serves as Chair of the ISTM Nursing Professional Committee and as President-Elect of the Alberta Association of Travel Health Professionals (AATHP).
